Unionville Date Night: We Crash a Valentine’s date in the Subaru Impreza!

Here at NewRoads, we strongly believe that the spirit of love is woven right into the fabric of every Subaru. It’s more than a car; it’s a commitment. With Valentine’s Day fast approaching, we decided the best way to prove it was to stage a little romance, photography included!

Our subjects? A wonderful friend and her boyfriend, who were brave enough to let me third-wheel their very first official Valentine’s celebration. The energy was electric! We loaded up our gear and hit the road from Richmond Hill in a 2016 Subaru Impreza to find the perfect backdrop: Main Street, Unionville.

I’ll admit my local pride took a hit - I've lived in York Region for ages but had never actually visited the legendary Unionville Main Street. After a quick search of "Main Street Unionville winter" (seriously, go look!), I was instantly sold. It’s got that quaint, storybook feel, making it the perfect destination for our low-key, romantic road trip.

We pulled the Impreza right up next to the big gazebo, and that’s when Mother Nature decided to join the party. The second we stepped out, the wet snow started pouring down! But you know what they say: when in Canada, you just embrace the weather. The unexpected snowfall actually made our red and white balloons pop with festive colour against the winter sky, turning the chilly challenge into a memorable moment.

You simply cannot celebrate Valentine’s Day without a serious dose of sugar. After our snowy gazebo adventure, we made a beeline for the Old Fire Hall Confectionary. If heaven had a candy store, this would be it. We highly recommend their gourmet truffles, fudge, and chocolate-covered cookies on a stick. It truly is a dream!

And for the pop culture fans out there: fun fact! That picturesque street was the location where the pilot episode of Gilmore Girls was filmed.
