Subaru Outback

2026 Subaru Outback

The all-new Outback builds on its reputation as a go-anywhere adventure vehicle with a stronger design, taller stance, refined cabin and greater all-conditions capability. Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD, advanced X-MODE and 220 mm of ground clearance give it confident performance on city streets or snowy cottage roads.

Inside, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and 12.1-inch infotainment screen create a modern, high-tech environment. The updated EyeSight Driver Assist system adds a wide-angle mono camera, Emergency Stop Assist, Front Pre-collision Braking and Acceleration Override Assist. With standard MySubaru Connected Services and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, the Outback is smarter, more connected and built for Canadian life.

Safety + Technology = Confidence at all Four Corners

For more than six decades, Subaru engineering has focused on protecting people first. The 2026 Outback carries this forward with advanced systems that help drivers avoid hazards, react quickly and stay safer in all conditions. Built on the Subaru Global Platform for excellent crash-energy absorption, it combines active and passive safety features to support confidence on every drive.

The Outback’s safety starts with core strengths like Symmetrical Full-Time AWD, balanced weight distribution and clear visibility, then adds the latest EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, Automatic Emergency Steering and the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System. Features such as X-MODE, Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection and Vehicle Dynamics Control with Active Torque Vectoring work constantly in the background to help maintain control, whether navigating busy city streets or winter roads.

Features

EyeSight Driver Assist Technology

Standard on every Outback, the newest EyeSight system uses wider-angle cameras and improved processing to detect hazards earlier and respond faster. It includes Pre-Collision Braking, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, Adaptive Cruise Control with Vehicle Hold, Lane Centring Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Sway Warning, Emergency Lane Keep Assist, Emergency Stop Assist and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. Acceleration Override Assist and Automatic Emergency Steering work together to avoid sudden obstacles, while new haptic steering-wheel vibration warns of unintended lane departure. A front radar–based Front Pre-Collision Braking feature is exclusive to the Premier XT. These systems operate quietly in the background, supporting the driver while maintaining full control.

Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection (SRVD)

SRVD integrates Blind Spot Detection, Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert to expand driver awareness. Blind Spot Detection signals when a vehicle moves into a blind zone, while Lane Change Assist warns of rapidly approaching traffic in neighbouring lanes. Rear Cross Traffic Alert helps when backing out of parking spaces or driveways by detecting vehicles coming from either side. LED indicators in the side mirrors deliver clear, intuitive warnings to reduce surprises in busy conditions.

Higher-Performing Boxer Engines

The 2026 Outback offers two efficient and durable SUBARU BOXER engines. The 2.5-litre direct-injection engine delivers strong everyday performance with excellent fuel economy through reduced friction and optimized combustion. The available 2.4-litre turbocharged direct-injection engine generates 260 horsepower and 277 lb-ft of torque, providing easy highway passing and confident towing. Both engines sit low in the chassis for improved stability, and each is tested extensively to ensure long-term reliability in Canadian conditions.
